THE PRINCIPLES
Assume nothing |
Christianity
Explained starts from the assumption that the enquirer knows little
or nothing about the Bible or the basic Gospel. This is increasingly
the case in traditionally Christian countries.
Proceed slowly |
Christianity
Explained seeks to teach the Gospel slowly, one point each lesson,
over a six-unit course. It is based on the Gospel of Mark, as this
is the shortest and easiest gospel for someone starting out.
Limited time commitment |
"Would you be
willing to give just six hours of your life?" Enquirers are asked to
meet on just six occasions, a limited commitment.
The
three fears |
Enquirers are
assured from the beginning they will not be asked to read aloud,
pray, sing or answer Bible questions that may embarrass them.
Discussion, however, is encouraged.

COURSE CONTENT
Part
One - Learning about Jesus:
JESUS - SON OF GOD
Mark begins by calling Jesus the "Son of God" (Mark 1:1). We show
Jesus’ claim to be equal with God, forgiving sin.
JESUS - HIS CRUCIFIXION
Jesus came to give his life as a ransom for many (Mark 10:45).
JESUS - HIS RESURRECTION
By his often-predicted resurrection (Mark 8:31), the risen Jesus
guarantees both life after death and future judgement.
Part Two - Where do I fit in?
GRACE - NOT WORKS
The finished work of Jesus, not our goodness, is the only basis of
our acceptance with God.
REPENTANCE
"Repent and believe" is Jesus' basic message (Mark 1:15). Repentance
is more than sorrow for sin. Jesus must come first in our lives. He
must be Lord.
BELIEVING
The
Kingdom of God, God's rule in our lives, must be received as a
little child. Without undue pressure, the enquirer is encouraged to
take this step.
